DONATE TO THE STATTS/WILLIAMS FUND

tybee skatepark is dead

it’s finally done.  i heard it for years.  tonight the tybee city council voted , 5 to 1, that there will be no public skatepark on public land of any kind on tybee island, ga.  i am truly at a loss for words.  as many of you know i have dedicated four years of my life to this project.  and to see it die in one night really hits me hard.  you guys know i can be an asshole, but these people on tybee really have me beat.  they wouldn’t even give us the interest gained on the money we raised.  apparently there is a lot of labor involved in maintaining a bank account.  i don’t know where to go from here, whether its returning money or putting toward a skatepark in chatham county.  alot of people donated money for a skatepark on tybee and tybee alone.  i just don’t know.

you should write something more and send it along with this post to shit like Concrete Wave, Concussion Mag, and Thrasher. Shit like that. Maybe something might come from it.

I’m sorry to here that ben. We all know you put a lot of effort into making the Tybee park happen but don’t let it get you to down. Take a break from it for a while and focus on your own stuff. Then when you feel up to it I think you should definitely look into the possibility of a park in the county. See you soon.

that’s such bullshit. i feel bad for you and for everyone in the SAV that put time and effort into it. i remember it took the rakestraw brothers about 8 fucking years to get the park built in chapel hill and by that time pat was in LA and pro. but goddamned, those old georgia beuracrats are something else eh. maybe you could try and make it really really public…
and i guess from there find some ol dude that owns a lot of land, and start building.
